Finale from Eugene Onegin
Here is the finale from Tchaikovsky's opera "Eugene Onegin", based on the novel-in-verse by Aleksandr Pushkin. This performance features Dmitri Hvorostovksy as Onegin and Renee Fleming as Tatyana Larin. In this scene Eugene, once loved by Tatyana, finally feels for Tatyana. He has come to her in hopes to kindle his love, but to no avail. After begging Tatyana to forsake everything, including her husband (who happens to be Onegin's cousin), and to be with him she finally rejects him and bids him farewell forever. Left alone and broken he proclaims, "Humiliation! Anguish! Oh, what a pitiable fate!" Very moving, to say the least. Enjoy.
