Classics Review: What is it?

Beginning this month I will be making Classical music recommendations regularly for my readers to listen out for. At the beginning of each month I'll pick one composer from the Common Practice Period and each week choose one of their pieces to review. Whether you're a beginner at classical, a casual listener, or a full-time fan, I'm hoping to direct you to some great music that you'll enjoy.

In each review I'll specify what type of listener would best appreciate my recommendation, be they a "Beginner Listener", "Casual Listener", or "Full-Time Fan". The Beginner Listener level includes music that may be well-known, often used in movies or on television, or just a piece that is enjoyable no matter how often one listens to Classical or how much they know about it. The Casual Listener level is directed towards the person who listens to Classical to relax or unwind, but not all the time (this is you if you've said to a friend who's asked if you've heard a certain classical piece "If I hear it I might know it, but I just don't know the names."). And the Full-Time Fan level is for the listener who includes Classical in their list of favorite genres, be it number one or in the top five. In each review I'll also give a little background information about the piece and paint a mental picture of the music for the reader, describe it's character, mood, and emotions or ideas that could be associated with it, such as the season, part of the world, or events it may embody.

So be sure to check out my Classics Review each week. You can find some new music you may have never heard before, become more acquainted with Classical, and hopefully have some fun.
